“I saw something that reminded me of you. I wanted to show you, but then I remembered that we don’t talk anymore.”

“You will never be completely at home again because part of your heart will always be elsewhere. That is the price you pay for the richness of loving and knowing people in more than one place.”
— Miriam Adeney
how strange it is, for someone to exist where they are yet with you. how a certain scent reminds you of how a friend used to bake their cookies, how distant laughter sends your head instinctively turning. how my senses were taught to alert me of you even when you’re so far gone, like a dog sitting at the train station day after day, awaiting its owner who might never come home.
Thinking of you
I think of you at night
And how you could be
Gazing up at the stars
Telling your wonderful storys around a fire
Or going for a midnight swim
While I'm curled up in my stationary bed
Already worrying about tomorrow
It's comforting to think of you
Having your adventures, seeing the world
Free from the burdens of modern life
As you traverse our common home
Meeting kindred spirits and living
Where are you now, restless traveller?
Do you still think of me?
